NAIROBI (Radio/Web) – The Minister of Planning, Investment, and International Cooperation for the Government of Jubaland, Hon. Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed, held a productive meeting in Nairobi today with the European Union Ambassador to Somalia, Amb. Francesca Di Maura.
The meeting, which addressed critical issues for the development of Jubaland, was attended by the Ministry’s Director General and members of the technical team, while the Ambassador was accompanied by the EU Head of Cooperation.
Five-Year Development Plan
The primary focus of the meeting was the finalization and implementation of the Jubaland Five-Year Development Plan. This strategic framework, jointly developed by the Jubaland Government and the European Union, will serve as the foundation for future developmental projects across all regions of Jubaland.
Drought Response and Infrastructure
The Minister and the Ambassador also held in-depth discussions on:
- Drought Response: Securing coordinated and immediate support for populations severely affected by the ongoing droughts in Jubaland.
- Development Cooperation: Strengthening high-impact community projects to address immediate social and economic needs.
Commendation and Gratitude
Hon. Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed expressed his gratitude to the European Union for its consistent role in state-building and the overall development of Jubaland.
In turn, Ambassador Francesca Di Maura commended the extensive work carried out by the Ministry in preparing the development plan. She pledged that the European Union would redouble its support for Jubaland to ensure the plan’s successful transition into actionable projects.
